Six Months

Well, it only took sixth months to fail on my objective of at least doing a blog post on your exact mini birthday.  Work has been crazy, and I want to spend all my moments at night with you, so keeping up with this blog has been a tough chore.  I just put you to bed and decided I better bite the bullet and do your six month post.

Happy Half Birthday, Wesley! It seems like only yesterday that we were bringing you home from the hospital, unsure of how we could take care of something so small and helpless.  Over the past 6 months you have grown into such a happy, inquisitive, loving little man.  It is amazing to see how much you have progressed and also a little sad to know that you aren't so little anymore.

This month you went on your first beach vacation.  We went to Palm Coast, FL.  We decided to drive to Florida (14 hours!!) and you were definitely on your best behavior and slept most of the time.   You looved the beach and also love to swim in the pool in your float.  You also loved all of the attention from family as well.

Official stats as of July 5 at your doctor appt.
Weight: 17 lbs 9 ounces (49%)
Height: 26 in (34%)
Head: 17.75

Overall Health:
You have been very healthy this month.  Besides the occasional stuffy nose you are a healthy, active baby boy. This makes mama happy because seeing you sick is awful.

Clothes:
You are currently in 6 months (not for much longer) and 9 month clothes.  I can't believe I'm going to have to start packing up your 6 month clothes in a few short days.

Sleep:
Well, you are fully in your crib at night but you have decided that it is now time to wake up a couple times in the middle of the night now.  Ever since we got back from vacation a few weeks ago you haven't slept from 8pm to 5 or 6am like you used to.  Your schedule for the past two weeks has been go to bed by 8pm and then up at 1 or 2am, and then again at 5am before waking up at 6:30am to get ready for the day.  I'm just attributing it to a growth spurt.

Diet:
Mostly still my breastmilk, but on Saturday we started solids! Your first food EVER was avocado and I must say that you loved it! It was a little messy but we let you pick it up and touch it, hold the spoon, and be a little messy since it was your first time.  Tonight you had green beans for the first time and ate the entire 2.5 ounce package.  Needless to say, you are loving solids.  Can't wait to give you fruit sometime next week.

Milestones:
You have officially rolled over both ways and can sit unassisted for about a minute before you topple over.  You love to stand when held and have even taken a few steps while being held as well.  A looong way before walking (or crawling) but your legs are getting stronger everyday! You were also able to eat your toe the other day, and can now pull down the radioactive cow toy on your carseat.

Here is your 6th month in pictures.
