Two Weeks

I'm finally caught up enough to actually write your two week old post on the day you are turning two weeks! Woohoo!

It was yet another week of firsts for you, and your dad and I are slowly getting used to having you around and constantly being tired.  :)

This week started out kinda tough because your bilirubin was high on Saturday and Sunday so we had to get your foot poked (for the third time!) on Monday morning to make sure your levels were okay.  You were very brave when they had to poke your foot and get blood; by the third time you didn't even flinch!  The good news is that your final level on Monday was 13 which was lower than the two previous numbers.    That meant that the doctor gave you a clean bill of health and we didn't need to take further tests.

The theme of your second week of life was "Fatten Up Wesley".  Since you lost some weight after birth, which is normal in newborns, the goal is for you to get back to your birth weight around your two week birthday.  I'm happy to report that at your second doctor's appointment today you weighed SEVEN pounds so the doctor was pleased with your weight gain and gave you a clean bill of health.  It was funny because you peed on the table during your appointment.  Dad and I were not surprised since just this week you have probably peed on us, or the floor, or your changing pad cover, at least two times a day.  :)

Other than that, your umbilical cord stump fell off on January 5, and after that we gave you your first sponge bath on that day as well.  You didn't cry that much during the bath, which was surprising, and afterwards your hair was poofed out.  It was very cute.  Grandma mentioned we might need to start using mousse on you in the future to keep your hair tame. Ha!

During your second week, Mom and Dad also took you for your first grocery shopping trip, and also took you on a trip to Babies R Us and Carters to pick up more newborn sized clothes for you.  After that shopping trip, I think you will be set for clothes until you grow out of the newborn sizes.

Other stats from the doctor appt today:
Head: 14 inches
Height: 20 and 1/4 inches
Weight:  7 pounds

You did not want to cooperate when I dressed you up for your two week old picture, but you looked very cute in your outfit I have to admit:
