Today marks four weeks since you were born, and I can't believe how fast the time has gone.
This week has been a very busy one for you. Dad and I went on several outings; including Cup of Joes (we sat you in your car seat in front of the couch by the fire and you slept), and also a couple store outings as well.
Your biggest car trip came on Thursday night when we headed down to Northern Kentucky for the first time since you have been born. It is about a 2 hour car ride from Columbus and like always you slept the entire time you were in your car seat.
You in your pooh outfit (The hat is way too tight on you so I had to take off for fear of you getting a headache) |
We got to Grandma and Grandpa Lucas' around 10pm, and that night your Uncle Jeffrey decided to visit you. Once we got everything settled (we had to unpack the car -- let me tell you, I usually over pack but you require so much gear that our car was filled to the brim!) Dad did a great job of packing and unpacking the car I must say. That night, your dad and I went to get Taco Bell, and while we were gone they did "tummy time" with you. When we got back, everyone was telling me that you had ROLLED OVER! Apparently you were on your stomach, and then rolled over to your back. I'm not sure it counts for your first rolling over, but grandma, grandpa, and Jeffrey couldn't believe what you had done. You are such a strong boy already, you lift your head up and move it from side to side, and you also do what I call "running man" with your legs while you are on your tummy. It is very cute, and shows me that you are very squirmy with strong legs.
On Friday, you attended your first "party" at Aunt Patty's. She gave you your Valentine's Day present (it was a cute onesie with a heart tie on it and a football onesie). We will definitely have to dress you up with it on Valentine's Day if it fits you ;). While there, Brian Kimberly and Caroline, Rick and Theresa, Patty, and Karen and Pat all got to see you. Everyone was commenting on how "dark" your skin looks. I think you look pretty good and like you have a natural tan. You were kind of fussy that night due to lack of sleep I think, but once we got you to sleep around 1am you slept for four hours straight until you woke us up for your next feeding.
Saturday we had another family party at Grandma and Grandpa's to watch Xavier. This time, Angie got to hold you for a long time and you were pretty good the entire night. The picture below is your first with Caroline and you together. Aunt Kimberly was brave enough to hold you both while we tried to get a good picture (which was tough to do) She is about 4 months older than you but I'm thinking that you guys will be best buddies growing up and being the same age.
Your last big adventure of this week was your one month well check up at Dr. Shultz's. Lets just say we are not worried about you gaining weight anymore! You tipped the scale at 8 pounds 13 ounces which means you have almost gained 2 pounds in two weeks. The picture below is you on the table at the doctor's office. For some reason, you stopped being fussy once I layed you on this table. I was joking that we would have to take the table home with us if you are going to be that good while laying on it. The appointment ended with you getting your Hepatitis B vaccine. You did a great job getting the shot, but you did cry for a little bit once the needle went in. Mom doesn't like to see you in pain, so I'm glad you didn't cry for long!
Here are some general statistics of you at one month:
Weight: 8 pounds, 13 ounces
Height: 20.5 inches
Head: 15 cm
Overall Health: You have been very healthy thus far. The only thing I can complain about really is your right eye has a blocked tear duct so you always have goop in your eye after you have been sleeping for a few hours, and your skin is very dry and flaky. But clearly, you are healthy in every other way so I can't be more happy for that!
Clothes: You are still able to fit into your newborn sized clothes (barely) and newborn diapers (barely). I'm sure within the next couple weeks we'll be moving up to 0-3 months sizes, which is exciting because you have many more outfits in that size that I can dress you up in! Yay!
Sleep: You sleep very well. You are now on a schedule where you pretty much wake up every 3 hours, and sometimes 4 hours in the middle of the night to eat. Whenever you get hungry, you start to wimper, so your Dad and I know that we have about 5 minutes before you are going to get angry and want to eat after you make those noises.
Diet: You are still eating only breast milk I have been pumping and feed you in bottles during the night and when we are out and you seem to enjoy that as well. One thing is that you eat ALOT! You have been eating close to 5 ounces of milk when we feed you with the bottle, so we call you our little pigger.
Milestones: You have been much more alert this past week and stare up and Dad and I. I also started sticking my tongue out at you and you then stick it back at me (so cute!). You also sort of rolled over (see story above), and really enjoy tummy time. You really don't cry unless you are hungry or have to burp/pooh. You have found your hands and suck on them alot, and you also usually sleep with one or both arms above your head whenever you are not swaddled. It looks like you are making the touchdown symbol and its very cute!
